ACO Clarimar® MF Sewage Treatment Plants - IMO MEPC 227 (64)
“The storage of a vessel’s wastewater streams in onboard holding tanks is not the most operationally efficient solution. The use of port reception facilities can be costly and also delay ship turnaround times’’ IMO has adopted RESOLUTION MEPC 227(64) with revised guidelines for effluent standards and performance test procedures for sewage plants. These guidelines, adopted in October 2012, which supersede resolution MEPC 159 (55), include the standards of section §4.2 that specifically apply to passenger ships operating in MARPOL Annex IV special areas and which intend to discharge treated sewage effluent into the sea. The ACO Clarimar® range of sewage treatment plants are fully certified by Bureau Veritas (BV) to IMO MEPC 227 (64)  [excluding §4.2]. Manufact...

Fuel savings with potential of up to 20 percent.First Type Approval for Auxiliary Wind Propulsion System Awarded.Norsepower Oy's Rotor Sail solution has received the first-ever type approval design certificate granted to an auxiliary wind propulsion system on board a commercial ship.   The type approval from DNV GL was issued after a design assessment of Norsepower’s 30-meter by five-meter Rotor Sail, two of which have been installed on board the Maersk Pelican LR2 tanker. Trojan Marinex BWT Systems update on USCG Type Approval
Trojan Marinex is fully committed to obtain a USCG type approval as well as the new G8 approval for the whole Marinex series of Ballast water treatment equipmentTrojan was the FIRST maker to apply for USCG Type approval in  2015 however the application was declined and the reason for the denial was the test method used for phyto plankton organisms on our USCG type approval testing called MPN. Throughout 2016 and 2017 Trojan has worked towards a legislative solution Until now, some UV based ballast water treatment systems (Alfa Laval and Optimarine) have received their USCG type approval via testing the phytoplankton organisms with a USCG approved test method called staining, which fits poorly to UV based solution.  This led to limitations on their certificates (3-day holidng requirement before ballas...
