The ratification of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention has set the date in which the Convention will enter into force and, subsequently, when the standards in regulations D-1 and D-2 will begin being enforced under Port State Control (outside of the U.S.). Starting September 8, 2017, vessels with greater than 400 gross tonnage will be required to manage ballast water by either installing a ballast water treatment system or performing ballast water exchange (BWE). All vessels must also maintain a ballast water management plan and record book.

Shipping is very difficult, but it's also exciting, it's a passionate job. It contributes greatly to the economy and human welfare by reducing the cost of transport. Today, 90 percent of the total cargo is carried by sea in the world. Nations that dominate maritime trade also dominate the world. Sea transportation and ship agency are the basis of shipping. Ship agency requires a comprehensive and deep expertise. This expertise, which combines cargo and ship, has been achieved with thousands of years of accumulation. Cargo loading‐unloading, strait passage, passenger, maintenance‐repair, survey, crew change, tugboat assistance etc.
The campaign for Day of the Seafarer 2012 will be announced soon!
25 June of each year is the "Day of the Seafarer", recognizing the invaluable contribution seafarers make to international trade and the world economy, often at great personal cost to themselves and their families.
Happy Day of the Seafarer.
